Taste of Reading
For the 27th school's anniversary celebration, the library, in collaboration with the Chinese Food Culture Library, will hold a series of food-related book exhibition activities over the next two weeks. The "Taste of Reading" book exhibition opening ceremony and the "Island Seafood" lecture on March 14th,2023 will mark the beginning of the book exhibition and related events.
The Chinese Food Culture Library is Taiwan's only specialized library focused on "food," and for many years, it has used various channels to convey the multifaceted aspects of food culture.
"Taste of Reading" book exhibition
During the "Taste of Reading" book exhibition, the library will showcase its collection of books under six main themes at the NKUHT library's co-creation base on the 2nd floor. The themes include ancient food literature, state banquet menus of six former presidents, classic Chinese recipes, Western cuisine and baking, food literature, culinary aesthetics and design, sustainable eating, and seafood. These diverse themes introduce the library's food-related collections. In addition to the book exhibition, activities such as themed postcard mailing, Cooking Taiwan journal displays and giveaways, and an ocean imagery wall photo booth will also be held.
"Outlying Islands Seafood" lecture
The "Outlying Islands Seafood" lecture invites He Xinjie(何欣潔) and Lu Yiting(呂伊庭), guest editors of the March-April 2023 issue of "Ryori Taiwan" magazine, to share their knowledge on island seafood farming, production, and consumption.
The speakers, with their media experience, returned to their hometown after many years away. They have utilized their media skills to vigorously market through social e-commerce, selling not only local seafood but also sharing the culinary culture of the islands. Related books will also be on display at the event.
Ocean: Does Fishing Concern Me?" theme exhibition
The "Ocean: Does Fishing Concern Me?" theme exhibition focuses on SDG Goal 14. It showcases collections related to the ocean, including marine ecology, ocean culture, marine literature, seafood consumption, and seafood cuisine.
